was born from a simple but powerful need: the desire for a space where people could feel safe, connected, supported, and empowered through community.

Like many others, we struggled to find our people especially in the South Bay. We were searching for a community that shared our values, where activism wasn't just something discussed online but something lived through relationships, care, and collective action. We longed for a place where we could belong, grow, create, organize, rest, and heal together.

As birth workers, we knew that reproductive justice and reproductive rights had to be at the heart of that vision. We believe caring for our communities means protecting bodily autonomy, supporting families in all their forms, and advocating for equitable access to care. Birth work has shown us that true community care extends far beyond pregnancy and parenting:it means creating systems of support where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Our vision is rooted in an intersectional understanding of feminism. We believe feminism is a movement for collective liberation and is inseparable from the fight against racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, colonialism, and every system of oppression that prevents people from living freely and with dignity. Feminism is not a single issue:it is a commitment to justice, equity, and belonging for all.

Today, Pílar is taking its first steps by bringing people together through classes, workshops, community gatherings, and collaborative events. Every gathering is an opportunity to build relationships, share knowledge, cultivate creativity, and strengthen the collective care that every community deserves.

Our long-term vision is to create a permanent feminist community center,a welcoming home for learning, organizing, creativity, mutual aid, healing, and connection. A place where people can access resources, attend events, share skills, build solidarity, and imagine a more just future together.

Pílar is not simply a destination; it is a community we are building together. Every class, every conversation, every gathering, and every person who joins us helps shape this vision and brings it one step closer to reality.
